The EPCS Young Ladies Choir, directed by Yvonne Marmolejo, has been selected, by audition, to sing as a guest on NPR’s From the Top performance on June 13th Concert and taping that will be held at the Plaza Theatre. The choir will be performing with four other performers from across the U.S.A. This program is the most prestigious U.S.A. showcase of young American talent. The program is broadcast weekly on NPR, and can be heard on 88.5 each Sunday at 12:00 noon. America’s finest performers are selected through an audition process, with each chosen From the Top concert participant receiving $7,500 scholarships to the New England Conservatory of Music.
Some members of the EPCS Young Ladies Choir have been performing with Ms. Marmolejo for the past 7 years. Her singers have been in El Paso Opera productions of Suor Angelica, Aida, La Boheme, Tosca, and Carmen. Her choir has performed with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra for Music Under the Stars and in the last two EPSO Christmas Concert s. In 2010, the Young Ladies Choir travels to Europe to sing concerts in Paris, Rome, Salzburg and Vienna.
